The purpose of this workshop is to educate, inform and inspire organizers who put on public events to take steps to proactively protect the community they serve from Sexual predators.
Ultimately, this information is also to raise awareness to attendees of public events as well!
Sexual predators in our community aren’t something that we generally like to think about when putting together gatherings and events. However, as our community is very kind, loving, open and accepting it makes us prime targets for those who would seek to take advantage of those things.
In this workshop we will discuss different ways to help keep our communities safe before, during and after the event.
This workshop is not intended to give all the answers. Each community has different needs and challenges. I will offer suggestions of places to start but want to inspire groups and leaders to ask the right questions to find solutions to possible situations that may arise.
Motivated and inspired by my own personal experiences that had happened surrounding a non-profit Pagan Networking Group that I ran, I felt called to put together a guide to help those who put on community events.
With that in mind, I have founded the Gorgon Network as a prevention tool to be used to better protect our communities.
The core of everything we discuss will be accessible on
www.gorgonnetwork.com I encourage all workshop attendees to use the website as a tool to take the message back to their local communities and spread the message themselves to others who would benefit from it.
